St John’s raises funds for Children in Need

St John’s on-the-Hill’s School choir and Hedgehogs Nursery children raised more than £110 for Children in Need when they performed for customers at Coffee#1, in Chepstow, on Friday 25 November.

The Junior Choir performed an eclectic range of songs, including ‘When I grow up’ from Matilda and ‘Under the Sea’ from The Little Mermaid. Henry Maynard, Katie Phillips and Jaimie Roberts performed solo pieces, along with James Lane who played a tenor horn solo.

The children were led by, junior choir leader, Lucy Marshall, and pianist Christopher Bond, who played the keyboard. They were also joined by the pre-school children from Hedgehogs Nursery, who helped collect donations dressed in spotty outfits.

Lucy Marshall said: “The children gave a superb performance. We were particularly impressed by the high quality of the solo pieces and it was wonderful to see all the children’s hard work pay off.”
