Professional golfer Liam Bond attended St John’s on-the-Hill School’s Open Morning on Saturday the 22nd of April, to provide coaching skills on a special golf course provided by the Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership.
The former European Tour player showed pupils a range of techniques for teeing off, chipping and putting on a range of golf simulators and obstacles.
Liam Bond said: “It is important that children have the opportunity to play golf at school with their friends in a fun environment. We want to encourage young people to take up golf and foster a love of the game by making it exciting and engaging.”
Ruth Frett, Head at St John’s on-the-Hill, added: “We are looking forward to working in partnership with Liam. Sport is hugely important to St John’s and golf is a great way to get active and to meet friends as it is such a sociable game. It is fabulous to have a golfing legend at our school to show us how it is done.”
Liam is opening his own Golf Academy, in Tidenham, in May, and gave St John’s pupils a glimpse of what will be on offer. The Golf Academy will be equipped with the latest technology, including video swing analysis, to help golfers work on improving their technique.
