Santa wowed the children at St John’s on-the-Hill School when he arrived in style for their Christmas Fayre on Tuesday 12th December – swooping in by helicopter.

Santa made his surprise entrance in a five-seater Robinson 66 helicopter, generously loaned by the grandfather of two pupils at the school. The children watched open-mouthed as the helicopter circled above their heads, finally landing in the middle of the rugby pitch. When Santa stepped out the children screamed with excitement.

Santa then visited the Christmas Fayre and gave out presents from his grotto. To add to the excitement rugby stars Alex Cuthbert and Ellis Jenkins, who play for Cardiff Blues, joined the fun signing autographs for the children. The children had set up stalls with candyfloss and popcorn making, chocolate fountains, lucky dips and water pistol target competitions.

Ruth Frett, Head, St John’s on-the-Hill, said: “Santa’s arrival was magical and it was wonderful to see the utter delight on our children’s faces. Our PTA, the Friends of St John’s, worked so hard to make the Christmas Fayre a success and this really was the icing on the cake.”
