Super Hero Week
What a way to start the school year! The Pre-Prep children, dressed in super hero capes and masks, arrived at school to find the department filled with bat caves, twinkling lights and lots of Zap! Pow! Boom!
The super hero theme continued throughout the curriculum. For example, in literacy wonderful writing emerged about super powers and super friends. The children created designs for capes along with some incredible ‘Underpants Wonderpants’.
Many aspects of being a hero were discussed and the children were visited by Rhys Edwards from the charity, Help for Heroes, who talked about some very real super heroes from our military service and how we can help those who have been injured.
Fire officers from Chepstow Fire Station also came to visit. The children had great fun sitting in their fire engine with the sirens blaring and shooting the fire hose. Their visit had a wonderful educational side as the children learnt about the importance and safety of uniform (the dressed-up teachers looked amazing) and how and when to contact the emergency services.
