Visits and Open Days 

 

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Dean Close St John’s, whether you join us for an Open Morning, a personal visit, or explore our school online.

Choosing the right school is an important decision, and we believe that nothing compares to experiencing the feel of a place in person. We are proud of our warm, family-feel school, where every child is known, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. During your visit to St John’s, you will meet our Head, teachers and pupils, see learning in action, and gain a genuine insight into everyday life at our school.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family, showing you around our excellent facilities, and giving you a real sense of what makes Dean Close St John’s such a special place for children to learn, grow and flourish.

Whole School Open Mornings

Upcoming Open Morning dates for 2026-27 academic year:

  • Friday, 2nd October 2026

  • Friday, 13th November 2026
     

  • Friday 5th March 2027
  • Friday 30th April 2027

Our Open Morning events are the perfect opportunity to discover Dean Close St John’s, whether you are looking for a place for your child in our Kindergarten (ages 3+), Pre-Prep (Reception to Year 2), Prep (Years 3 to 6) or Senior Prep (Years 7 and 8).

  1. The morning begins at 9.00am with coffee in the Head’s Office, providing an opportunity to meet the Head and chat with other visiting families in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
     
  2. This is followed by a guided tour led by our senior pupils, giving you the chance to see the school through their eyes. Our pupils are always delighted to share their experiences and are happy to answer any questions along the way.
     
  3. After the tour, we invite you to join us in the Embassy Room for an informal conversation with the Head and members of our teaching staff. It is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and learn more about life at Dean Close St John’s.
     

  4. We plan to conclude the Open Morning at 11:00am, but if you have any further questions or would like to stay a little longer, you are very welcome to do so.

  5. After the Open Morning, there is an option to book an individual meeting or a 'Discover & Flourish Session' with one of our Heads of Department (please see more details below). These will normally take place from 11.00am onwards. We will confirm all arrangements and timings with you prior to your visit.

Children are very welcome to attend this initial visit, or you may prefer to visit first and bring them along at a later date, whichever feels right for your family.

If you missed one of our Open Mornings but would still like to visit, we’d be delighted to welcome you for a personal tour. Please contact us at admissions@deanclosestjohns.org.uk to arrange a time that suits you.

Does your child have a particular interest? Book a Discover & Flourish Session

Is your child particularly interested in Science, Mathematics, Art, Drama, Music, Languages, Sport, or another area?

We would be delighted to tailor your visit and arrange an opportunity for you to meet the relevant Head of Department. This will allow you to learn more about the opportunities available and ask any specific questions you may have.

If your child would enjoy it, we would also be happy to arrange a Discover & Flourish Session to help them become fully involved in the visit through a hands-on experience. This might include trying musical instruments, taking part in a sports coaching session or art workshop, exploring a science activity, or discovering another area of particular interest.

If you would like to arrange a personal meeting or Discover & Flourish Session, please let us know when booking your Open Morning or personal visit using the form below, or simply email admissions@deanclosestjohns.org.uk before your visit. Our Head of Admissions will then be in touch to discuss the arrangements and help tailor your experience to your child's individual strengths, interests and aspirations.
