Journey Through South Africa - Year 7 & 8's Adventures

Our Year 7 and 8 pupils have recently returned from their school trip to South Africa. Please read below a summary of the trip from Miss Meghan Duncan, who accompanied them on this grand adventure.

“During the Easter holidays, Year 7 and 8 embarked on a cultural exchange to South Africa, filled with unforgettable experiences and cherished memories. Beginning our journey in Cape Town, we scaled the majestic heights of Table Mountain, encountered playful penguins at Boulders Beach, and marvelled at the breathtaking views from the top of Cape Point. The children learnt all about the history of South Africa during our city tour and then continued their learning when we visited Robben Island. Robben Island was a highlight for the children, as they were toured by an ex-prisoner who told them all about life in prison there.

After exploring Cape Town for five days, we ventured to Somerset West, where we were warmly welcomed by host families from Beaumont School. Embracing the opportunity to experience South African school life, the children formed lasting friendships and created enduring connections. Continuing our journey, we flew to East London, where we engaged in a thrilling three-day safari adventure, encountering lions and giraffes in their natural habitat. Feeding Abby the giraffe was a highlight for all the children. After safari, the children returned to Stirling Primary school, the school group who are arriving in September. They spent the day in school and were hosted by their families. The children had a fantastic time and loved being immersed in school life there.

Amidst school visits and beachside adventures, our students represented our school with pride. As we reflect on our incredible journey, plans for next year's trip are already underway, promising new adventures and opportunities for growth. Stay tuned for updates on next year's trip!”
