At St John’s Preparatory we welcome pupils aged 7 and above. We endeavour to develop a passion for life and this is nurtured in a secure environment, where individuality is celebrated. We encourage freedom and exploration in learning; the independence to explore what learning means to each pupil, inside and outside the classroom.

Every lesson, activity, and club is an opportunity to stretch young minds at Dean Close St John’s. Whether it’s in our outdoor classroom, at STEM Club, in the Art and Design studio, in the swimming pool, during reading time with friends, or at Forest School, every moment sparks children’s curiosity about the world and encourages them to explore it.

To help them do this, we know that equipping children with the skills to learn is vital. We value the whole child: their academic achievements, their sporting success, their contributions to the arts, and the positions of responsibility they have held. Just as importantly, we celebrate the skills they develop along the way — independence, collaboration, leadership, and the ability to review and improve.
